Resident Architect for a Healthcare Building

 

Vacancies are available for the following posts for the project of Design and Construction of Queen Mary Hospital Phase 1 main works:

 

(i)         A Resident Architect to work on a construction site in Hong Kong to provide

overall coordination and supervision of the architectural works of a general hospital. The Resident Architect shall be both a Registered Architect in Hong Kong and an Authorized Person-Architect as defined under the Buildings Ordinance and shall have minimum 5 years relevant site experience.

 

(ii)       A Resident Architect to work in secondment to the offices of Architectural

Services Department located in Queensway Government Office under the supervision and direction of the Supervising Officer. The Resident Architect shall be a Registered Architect in Hong Kong and shall have minimum 5 years working experience in local construction projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The duties and responsibilities of the Resident Architect shall include but not limited to the following:-

 

1.      To watch, and inspect, to test and examine materials used and workmanship employed in the architectural works on-site, off-site, at factories or other testing laboratories, to ensure that they are complying with the specifications, drawings and construction procedure with the assistance of the site supervisory staff;

2.      To identify defective materials and workmanship in the architectural work not complying with the specification, drawings and construction procedure, and to coordinate appropriate tests on the defective architectural work;

3.      To communicate with the Architectural Designer, the Supervising Officer of Architectural Services Department, and site supervisory staffs on architectural work;

4.      To resolve on site architectural difficulties arising from unforeseen circumstances to allow the architectural works to progress with minimum disruption, and in case of action involving changes to approved design, consult the Supervising Officer or his representatives;

5.      To report to the Architectural Designer, the Supervising Officer of Architectural Services Department or his representatives any matters of unusual aspect for direction;

6.      To maintain site record on architectural work and to coordinate the checking of architectural works on-site, off-site, at factories or other testing laboratories with the assistance of site supervisory staff;

7.      To monitor the progress and to produce timely information in advance of construction to avoid delay;

8.      To coordinate builder’s works requirements in connection to building services and deal with the consequential changes to architectural design and to produce sketch plans and working drawings;

9.      To submit for approval any architectural details, in particular any temporary work as required in the Contract;

10. To attend regular and ad hoc meetings;

11. To assist the Architectural Designer, the Supervising Officer of Architectural Services Department or his representatives in the investigation and to prepare report on the acceptable or otherwise the use of materials;

12. To prepare design, estimate and specification in collaboration with allied disciplines;

13. To carry out the site safety management functions under the Authorized Person stream as outlined in the Technical Memorandum for Supervision Plans 2009 and detailed in the Code of Practice for Site Safety Supervision 2009; and

14. To undertake any other duties in connection with site construction activities.

 

 

 

We are recruiting for the following positions for an ArchSD project in Chai Wan area.

 

Resident Clerk of Works (RCOW)

The minimum qualifications required for the post of Resident Clerk of Works shall be as follows:

(a)   Diploma or Higher Certificate from the Construction Industry Council in Hong Kong / Hong Kong Institute of Construction / Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College/ Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent in Building discipline.

(b)     Eight years’ relevant post-qualification experience including experience in inspection of structural works; or

(c)     Five years’ relevant experience as RACOW or equivalent in public works projects or those listed in Section 4.5.2 of the RSS Management Handbook including experience in inspection of structural works.

(d)     Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE)/ Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.

 

An employment contract of minimum 44 months with salary offered in accordance with the appropriate Government pay scale point.

Resident Assistant Clerk of Works (RACOW)

The minimum qualifications required for the post of Resident Assistant Clerk of Works shall be as follows:

(a)       Diploma or Higher Certificate from the Construction Industry Council in Hong Kong / Hong Kong Institute of Construction / Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College/ Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent in Building discipline.

(b)       Three years’ relevant post-qualification experience including experience in inspection of structural works, or

(c)       Five years’ relevant experience inclusive of one year relevant experience as RWSII or equivalent in Building discipline in public works projects or those listed in Section 4.5.2 of the RSS Management Handbook including experience in inspection of structural works; or

(d)       Three years’ relevant experience inclusive of one year relevant experience as RWSI or equivalent in Building discipline in public works projects or those listed in Section 4.5.2 of the RSS Management Handbook including experience in inspection of structural works.

(e)       Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE)/ Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.

 

An employment contract of minimum 32 months with salary offered in accordance with the appropriate Government pay scale point.

Resident Field Officer II (RFOII)

The minimum qualifications required for the post of Resident Field Officer II shall be as follows:

(a)       Diploma or Higher Certificate from the Construction Industry Council in Hong Kong / Hong Kong Institute of Construction / Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College/ Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent in an appropriate discipline.

(b)       One year’s relevant post-qualification experience including landscape projects, countryside/flora/wildlife field survey and management.

(c)       Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE)/ Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.

Resident Engineer (Geotechnical) (RE(G))

 

The minimum qualifications required for the post of Resident Engineer (Geotechnical) shall be as follows:

(a)       Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers or equivalent in Civil or Geotechnical discipline, with minimum 2 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering.

(b)       Recognised professional qualification in engineering geology or geology or equivalent, such as Chartered Geologist status of the Geological Society of London, UK, with minimum 2 years’ experience in engineering geology or geology.

Resident Assistant Clerical Officer (Labour Relations) (RACO(LR))

 

The minimum qualifications required for the post of Resident Assistant Clerical Officer (Labour Relations ) shall be as follows:

 

(a)     Level 2 or equivalent or above in five subjects in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or equivalent, or

(b)     Level 2 / Grade E or above in five subjects in Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or equivalent, and

(c)     Knowledge in application of common business software (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel); and

            i)                Full-time working experience on personnel management or human resources related duties and preferably with post-secondary certificate on personnel management or human resources; or

           ii)                For recruitment exercises encountered with recruitment difficulty subject to substantiation by the consultant and acceptance by the managing department, post-secondary certificate on personnel management or human resources may be considered.

 

An employment contract of minimum 38 months starting from 3 December 2018.
